Perfect dining time.

Tonight I saw Pot Smoking Manager come back in to the kitchen carrying three plates, trailing Cathy, the Bug, and Tiffany in his wake. I couldn't hear what he was saying, but he was pissed.

As he came in to the kitchen, he literally threw the plates down on the counter. “The more I think about it the more fucking pissed I get!” I bolted at that point, PSM is scary when he's mad, because you don't expect it from him!

Turns out that Tiffany got it in her head that it was okay to order food. She said she asked “a bunch” of servers and they all told her it was okay. I'm guessing the ones she asked were the Bug and Cathy, because they ordered food too. They were just sitting at a table in the middle of the restaurant, chowing down.

It was seven o'clock. We hadn't even done first cuts yet, and the kitchen still had a full screen. Idiots.

Nooooooo - no way!

I can see exactly why PSM got peezed. That is one of the most amazingly stupid things I have seen not 1, not 2, but 3 employees do at 7pm no less.

I wonder why the kitchen agreed to make the food. Not blaming them, just wondering why they didn't think it was weird.

So exactly what happened? like did they order food to nibble on while they were working? If they were on a lunch break I don't really see what the problem is. If you're on your lunch break you're entitled to eat and it is money going back into the till, as long as you're not actually eating on the floor amongst the customers I don't really see what the problem is aside from being an inconvenience during a busy period. Baring in mind this is just an Irish point of view on the matter

SkippyMom, the kitchen had no idea who it was for because they put it under the table number where they decided to sit down, rather than under one of the usual numbers employees use -- which tells me right there they knew they were doing something wrong!

DMT, they weren't on break, it was the middle of the dinner rush. Had they asked PSM if they could get some mozzarella sticks or something to scarf in the back, he'd probably have said yes. But like I said, it was seven and the kitchen still had a full screen of orders! Not the time to be sitting in view of customers and eating.

first off you never sit in the dining room when guests can see you. thats just idiotic. second, the fact that they put it under a table numbr just shows they fuylly knew it was wrong. three...unless you have been cut and are between shifts, most servers dont get "breaks".

So the staff (or some of them) are as bad as the customers. Well, you have been writing about staff things too.

@purple girl well in that case I fully understand why he was pissed

That's unbelievable! No wonder they pissed off the unpissoffable manager! Did they at least get suspended for that crap?

Hell hath no fury like a manager scorned. Holy crap I can't believe what people think they can get away with. Or how they function.

Holy cow! WTF were they thinking? That's an incredible show of disrespect and just.... dumbass-ery.
We are allowed to have a little snack (cup of soup, roll, whatever) in the kitchen to chew on as we're on the floor, but we have to wait for the manager on duty to tell us we can sit down and have dinner - in addition to them signing off on our check so the cooks know as well.

It's almost unbelievable! Did they get fired? Or at least warned that they are fired if they do it again, which may be more fair...
