Yep, I got the kiss off e-mail this morning. WTF, man? How with completely open availability and 11 fucking years of serving experience am I having trouble getting a goddamn restaurant job?
(Yes, I am feeling sorry for myself today. :) Just a bit.)

Ah. Well, that sucks. It probably wasn't you; with however many other applicants for so few positions, someone has to miss out. Sorry it had to be you. But I'm sure you'll find a job somewhere else. With that much experience, you'll get on with some other restaurant. :)
I heard they kind of suck anyway: http://rlserver.blogspot.com/
I bet they want complete novices so they can brainwash them or something
I sort of agree with Emmy. Besides with your attitude you would've never lasted at RL - they are WAY too corporate for someone like you who actually knows what they're doing.
Did they make you take the assessment? Apparently they won't hire you if you don't answer the assessment questions correctly. Also they've just changed the way they do things and all new-hires have to start out as a server assistant and work for 3 months or so until the management feels they are good enough to handle 4 tables. (Before we could only have 3) So perhaps your experience was why they didn't hire you. Nobody with experience will want to start out as a SA. You don't make any money. They pay them the server wage and servers tip you out a percentage of their total sales which is split with the other SA's. They do the same with the bartenders. It just started last Monday. You really don't want to to work for Red Lobster, they're working really hard at screwing their employees over. Servers there have to make their own salads and their own desserts, and walk their own food and bus their own tables. (they just got rid of bussers and replaced with the SA's.) And they're suppose to not only take care of their own 4 tables, but also keep an eye on their partner's 4 tables. The SA's are suppose to help but really they are being used as bussers, at least at my location. I don't know how it's working out at other locations, but at my location it's not looking too promising. Hostesses are going crazy with triple and even quadruple seating everyone.
Wow, after reading the post from anonymous, I would NEVER want to work for Red Lobster. Consider yourself lucky girl. And I agree that you probably have too much experience for what they are hiring for (though I have always thought that was silly..)
you were truly blessed in not getting hired. They do suck-I work there and hate it-so does every server I work with. 23 servers have quit in the 8 mos Ive been there...
They do suck, they think nothing of screwing there employee's over. As far as the sa is concerned all that job is is a glorified bussing job. And for anonymous be glad you didn't get hired because somewhere down the line they would have screwed you and found a way to get rid of you.
They fired me for not learning the entire menu word for word in one week..I kept failing their hard ,ridiculous tests when I've been such a great server at other jobs... I was expected so much ..I was devastated and didn't feel like I was really good or smart enough to work for them
