Perhaps, more change.

I have an interview at another restaurant Thursday, and a second one called to set one up today. I'm not sure I want to work at either; one is a more upscale chain, and one is .... well, hard to say too much without identifying it, but the atmosphere there is kind of on crack.

But I've got to either get the fuck out of the current hellhole, or severely scale back my time there. I may work two jobs for a few months (oh god kill me now) to try to put together the funds for another trip to England this summer; or I might attempt it and after a week end up in jail for lobotomizing some asshole with a ramekin. Time will tell.

Make sure to sterilize the Ramekin after the Lobotomy. If you don't you're just going to invite sepsis on the ramekin and we all know that the poor little cup doesn't deserve that fate.

Might you be seeking to work at my chain? :) Remember, if you need a reference...!

Hope you get outa that hellhole and find somewhere that gives a damn. I'm so much happier now and I hope you find the same result.

Good luck!

Finding a new job does wonders for your outlook.

I find myself in the same situation PG. The micro/fucktard management is getting to the point of either get the hell out or blow the place up. The latest b/s is that we now need manager approval for any credit card tip over 15%. Last night I had a manager actually stop a guest on the way out to ask why he left me a $20 tip on a $50 check. Needless to say he didn't like the "Why the fuck do you care" response.

And such is the cycle of a restaurant worker. You start a place with a fresh and content perspective. Then the same idiocy, assholry, and corporate stupidity drive you insane. Then you let that fester for a year or two before you quit and start the cycle again.

Logan--seriously, management approval for any cc tip over 15%? That is not just control-freaky, but insulting...assuming that the reason is that they think you guys are playing with cc tips. In most chains, you get bitched out for having a low tip average.

We're told it's due to a recent string of CC fraud. All stores part of our franchise had to sign an agreement about all managers manually checking our CC tips and approving them all. We're not in trouble for anything over 15% but they want managers to ask the guest what we did to "Wow" them. As you can imagine guests aren't taking it very well.

Will tips be better at the upscale place?
