Maybe I'm the last person in the world to know this ....

But you can actually get pretty decent work shoes for cheap at Wal-Mart. TredSafe "bistro" shoes are really pretty good! I've only worn them two shifts, but I have yet to slip and crack my skull in the kitchen (and our tiles aren't really non-slip). They're fairly comfortable, and they my feet didn't get nearly as hot as when I was wearing "Skechers for work" shoes. The Skechers have better tread--with the new shoes I can feel a bit of slippage when I'm just pushing my foot off the floor to step, if the tile is wet.

But they were $22, compared to the $60+ for the Skechers, so I ain't bitchin.

Gotta take care of our feet. Feet no good , no income.

These were actually the first pair of work shoes I ever got. A year later and I still wear them occasionally when I don't have tall socks clean (my new shoes make socks slip down my feet and bunch under my arch) and even though the padding is mostly gone from the inside the sole is still very good. With insoles these could easily last a few years. Good investment! :)

Yeah, I mentioned this in a post back on June 19th in a post entitled, "Find Your Lanes" at my "So You Want To Be A Server" blog.

Our restaurant started requiring us to use "Shoes For Crews", but these shoes are almost identical and they're at least $10 cheaper. They last pretty long as well. I go through shoes like a snake goes through a chicken yard (even Doc Martens only last me about 9 months max). My current shoes are almost that old now. They're broken in pretty well.

Damn, I wish my shoes would last nine months! I walk duck-footed and pronate inward; I'm also fat; and I work 5-6 days a week. I'm lucky to get six months' use out of shoes. I so stoked to have found these WalMart shoes; if they hold up that long it'll save me about $70 a year on shoes compared to the Skechers I was wearing.
