Update from the restaurant.

So CL didn't give me a single shift for a month, and replaced me on bingo. So I put in my two weeks' notice, two weeks ago today .... and not a single one of the managers has so much as acknowledged it. Whatever. I'm so done.

Nick was fired, via a voicemail, because of a Facebook post. Now, say what you want about watching yourself on Facebook -- his post was absolutely nothing that warranted firing. It said "I only have two shifts next week, guess I should look for another job because I can't pay my bills." HOW DARE HE?

Cali Girl quit. I was pretty shocked; she'd been there even longer than me. But one day this week, she got dressed and headed to work .... and halfway there decided, fuck it, I'm done. So she turned around and went home. Didn't even call in or anything. I don't really approve of that, but I approve of her getting the fuck out of there!

Sorry, but considering how that place treats it's employees I approve of the way Cali Girl quit. Why does she owe them anything? And even if it is "burning a bridge" for a reference - honestly, she won't have a problem finding a new restaurant job.

Hey hun. Hope everything is working out. I would take the lack of schedule to corporate and complain of harassment. You'd be surprised what you can get. But its good to hear the winds are changeing.

I have been reading for a while, though this is my first comment. I just wanted to say that I love your blog, and that I can certainly agree with your choice to leave, especially what with all the other servers being fired/leaving, there is clearly something wrong with the place.

Glad you are out of the restaurant business and I look forward to reading about life in a call center.

You know, I've been reading this blog for a long time now, and I could always relate to you - balancing school and work, pets, bills, body issues, anxiety issues, waitressing ...

Funny thing is, I stopped working as a waitress as well recently. I've been doing it for six years (I know, I know, that's only half as long as you!), and life feels kind of strange without waitressing, doesn't it!? Although I quit for good, somewhere in the back of my brain a server is waiting for her next shift to start! Do you get that feeling, too?

I had to drop out because I had back issues. I thought I could work again after a few weeks, but as it turns out, my back is fucked up and I will never be able to work as a server again. So I always thought I would go with a bang. Party with my coworkers and regulars, presents, shots, all that stuff. Didn't happen. I just wrote an email recently, saying I wouldn't be coming back, and that was it. That's what's happening to you today. It's just over.

Does it feel as strange to you as it did to me?!? Don't you wanna go back and say goodbye properly (or something like that)?

I'm eager to know. Hope everything turns out fine for you. Or even awesome.
And, as everybody else has already said: Don't stop blogging!!!

It's a shame that those leaving the restaurant, whether of their own free will or not, don't write a letter to upper management letting them know just what is happening with CL. They may have an idea but if y'all sent them a letter or an email regarding her business practices, action might be taken to correct things. They might not, but y'never know.

Hey look, I'm catching up on comments!

SkippyMom, I totally get what you're saying. The reason I don't approve isn't because of the managers, it's because I know the scrambling that will be done to cover shifts and the stress it puts on the employees still there. But I 100% approve of her getting out of there! She hasn't found something new yet, because she's not even trying restaurants, she's just done with it. I keep trying to convince her to apply at my new place!

Squishy! How are you girl? I'm still thinking about what I'd like to do. Part of me wants to go to corporate and try to cause problems, and part of me wants to just not waste any more time on the place!

Welcome, Travis! Always nice to hear from someone new. Hope you'll stick around for whatever this blog ends up being.

Thanks Caveman, I'm working on writing up some stuff!

Megaphon, those are some crazy similiarities! If you get a job in a call center ...... *creepy* Haha! It DOES feel strange to have just left, but there were so few people left there I'd even want to see again that it's not as bad as I thought!

Also, thanks for getting that song stuck in my head! :p

Watergirl, I'm debating if I'm going to do just that or not. There are certainly plenty of things that I could report CL for, but I think it would be pretty obvious it was me. I don't mean this to sound conceited, but of all the people who left/were fired recently, I'm pretty sure I'm the most educated and eloquent. Corporate would should the letter to CL, who would almost certainly know it was me, and the reason I care about that is because she would treat my friends there poorly because they're my friends. I know because she did it to me because of my friendship with L. So ... still on the fence there!

When longtime, good employees decided to either not show up for a shift or walk out on a shift, there's a problem with management. Too bad none of the ass suckers can figure that out.
